LA CALA VILLAGE

The idyllic old fishing village La Cala de Mijas is just a 10 minute walk away from Monte Romero and offers a wide variety of shopping and dining facilities, as well as stunning beaches. The distances to Marbella, Fuengirola and the Málaga international airport are 10, 20 and 35 km respectively.

The beaches of La Cala are the perfect place to relax in the sun or enjoy refreshments at the “chiringuitos” at the beach promenade. The village has several excellent restaurants, too: You can savour the best fresh seafood in the local beach restaurants or try the exceptional international cuisine of Chinese, Thai, Italian, British, Mexicana and Greek restaurants in la Cala.

Also, the village is full of little boutiques where to find real bargains as well as great wine shops where to taste the best Spanish wines while trying some of the typical tapas from the region. As for supermarkets, you find several big centers in the village that cover all needs.

Besides, La Cala is a paradise for golf enthusiasts: Right next to the village you find Noria Golf and Calanova Golf, at a distance of 4km Chaparral Golf and Cerrado de Aquila Golf, at a distance of 7km Santana Golf and La Cala Resort; not to mention the dozens of other spectacular golf courses in the Costa del Sol region, in a radius of 40 km.

The area is also ideal for equestrian sports lovers: In the vicinity you find several small riding stables that offer walks to the nature and riding lessons. At the Hippodrome Costa del Sol, just 3 km from La Cala, an International show jumping competition called Equestrian Tour Costa del Sol is held twice a year and professional training in showjumping and dressage is offered.

La Cala also has a sports center, a football field and, not to forget, a beautiful nature for hiking activities.

As for health services, a municipal health center is located right next to Monteromero. In addition, you find several private clinics and pharmacies in the village. The Hospital Costa del Sol, offering special care and emergency services, is located just 18 km away.
